NIS America officially announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon, the latest entry in the legendary Trails series developed by Falcom, is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, with a Western release scheduled for January 2026.
Known for its intricate storytelling and deep world-building, the Trails series has become a cornerstone in the JRPG genre, gaining a devoted global following since its inception.
Originally released for Nintendo Switch in Japan and Southeast Asia in 2024, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon introduces Western audiences to its next crucial chapter.
The game will release in North America and Europe not only on Switch 2, but also on PC, the first-generation Nintendo Switch, and other major consoles, ensuring broad access for both dedicated fans and newcomers.
NIS America also revealed the availability of a Limited Edition bundle, which can be pre-ordered via their official website.
This special release includes a Deluxe Edition game key (note: it will not ship with a physical cartridge), an art book, an original mini soundtrack, a SteelBook case, and a collectible “Grim Timekeeper” acrylic clock, all neatly packaged in a premium collector's box.
Set in the richly detailed world of Zemuria, Trails Beyond the Horizon follows protagonist Van Arkride and his Arkride Solutions team as they confront threats that could decide the fate of their entire continent.
The narrative sees the return of series favorites such as Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer and Father Kevin Graham.
A joint training mission orchestrated by the mysterious Marduk sets the stage for dramatic events, as the first-ever space mission looms large and hidden truths within Zemuria come to light.
The game builds upon its predecessors with enhanced gameplay systems, including the new Shard Commands, Awakening ability, and the time-freezing Z.O.C.
mechanic.
These features expand tactical depth and offer fresh challenges in both exploration and command-based battles.
Additionally, players can assemble dream teams from across Zemuria, tackling the formidable Grim Garten dungeon with custom party configurations to counter Ouroboros’ dangerous plots.
Reflecting on the significance of this release, a representative from NIS America emphasized that fans can expect Trails Beyond the Horizon to “intertwine paths from across the Trails saga, raising the stakes higher than ever as the series approaches its epic conclusion.”
With its January 2026 Western launch date, multi-platform availability—including support for the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 hardware—and the enticing Limited Edition bundle, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon stands poised to captivate RPG enthusiasts and continue the legacy of one of the genre’s most celebrated franchises.
