Retroid, a respected name in the retro gaming handheld space, has officially unveiled two new devices: the Retroid Pocket G2 and the Retroid Pocket 6.
The announcement, delivered via a concise one-minute YouTube video on October 27th, comes after a highly anticipated tease on social media that generated buzz within the gaming hardware community.
These new Android-based handhelds are poised to expand Retroid's platform offerings and cater to both retro and modern Android gaming enthusiasts.
The Retroid Pocket G2 is the latest iteration following the Retroid Pocket 5, and it continues Retroid's commitment to delivering powerful, portable gaming solutions.
At its core, the G2 boasts a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, which Retroid states offers double the processing speed of its predecessor.
The device features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p and a fluid 60Hz refresh rate, providing striking visuals in a compact form factor.
Key specifications include an Adreno A22 GPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a substantial 5000mAh battery, supporting long hours of gameplay.
The inclusion of Android 15 ensures access to the latest apps and games, while Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 bring high-speed connectivity and compatibility with modern peripherals.
The Retroid Pocket G2 will be available for pre-order on the official Retroid website, offered in five unique color options.
The GC, 16Bit, and Black models are scheduled to begin shipping on October 29, 2025, while the Turquoise and Yellow variants are set to ship on November 5, 2025.
For the initial two weeks, the G2 will be priced at $199, with the retail price increasing to $219 thereafter.
Retroid also introduced the Pocket 6 during the announcement, positioning it as its most powerful handheld device to date.
This device is built around the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the same chip found in high-end flagship smartphones.
The Pocket 6 sports a modified design, with a new control panel situated beneath the 5.5-inch AMOLED display, and stereo speakers positioned for immersive audio.
The screen itself supports a 1080 x 1920 resolution at a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring ultra-smooth visuals.
Additional features include a robust 6000mAh battery with a 27-watt fast charging capability, connectivity through Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, and Android 13 as the operating system.
Consumers can choose between two configurations: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, or a premium 12GB RAM with 256GB storage option.
The Pocket 6 is available to pre-order for $209 or $259, depending on the selected configuration, with prices expected to rise after the initial period.
The official store page for both devices is now live.
