Limited Run Games Brings Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection to Nintendo Switch Worldwide

Limited Run Games, the renowned publisher specializing in physical releases of classic and niche titles, has officially announced the worldwide release of Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection for the Nintendo Switch.

This acclaimed collection, which launched in Japan in September 2024, will now reach RPG enthusiasts across the globe.

Players can look forward to both a physical and digital edition, including a deluxe package, with pre-orders opening on January 2, 2026. Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection brings together the original Tenshi no Uta and its sequel, Tenshi no Uta 2: Datenshi no Sentaku, on a single Nintendo Switch cartridge.

Known for their innovative mechanics and emotionally engaging narratives, both games are celebrated as standout RPG experiences from the PC Engine era.

They are particularly notable for their integration of Celtic mythology and their exploration of romantic and dramatic themes, setting them apart from typical entries in the genre. The original Tenshi no Uta follows the protagonist Kearu on a quest to save his fiancée, Cleia, a celestial maiden captured by monsters.

This personal journey soon intertwines with a grander narrative as Kearu finds himself entangled in a plot to resurrect the Demon King Lucifel, threatening the very fabric of the world.

At the time of its initial release, the game was praised for its party system, which allowed up to five characters to join in battle—a rare feature for RPGs of its era.

The heartfelt connection between Kearu and Cleia remains a highlight, supported by a deeply atmospheric soundtrack and lush visuals. Tenshi no Uta 2: Datenshi no Sentaku, set a century after the first game, introduces players to Fate and Lianna, a mysterious amnesiac.

Their adventure unfolds across parallel worlds and revisits familiar faces, including Kearu from the original game.

Esteemed for its continuity, layered storytelling, and evocative musical score, the sequel delivers a narrative weight that resonates with longtime fans and newcomers alike.

The experience is enhanced by the return of beloved characters, emotionally charged dialogue, and expanded gameplay systems. Beyond the core storylines, the Tenshi no Uta series has earned lasting praise for its replayability.

Players can search for rare, character-specific weapons and explore rich, optional content, ensuring that the experience remains fresh even after multiple playthroughs.

The combination of detailed world-building, carefully crafted music, and engaging gameplay has cemented the series as a hidden gem among Japanese RPGs. Commenting on the release, a representative from Limited Run Games emphasized their commitment to preserving gaming history and making classic titles accessible to new generations of players worldwide.

This release marks a significant milestone for fans of retro gaming and the Nintendo Switch platform, further expanding the console's impressive library of RPGs. Tenshi no Uta: The Angel Verse Collection will be available through the Nintendo eShop and in retail stores.

Both standard and deluxe physical editions are planned, catering to avid collectors and genre enthusiasts.
