Shenmue III Enhanced Announced for Nintendo Switch 2: Release Date, Editions, and Pre-Order Details

Shenmue III Enhanced, the highly anticipated revitalization of Yu Suzuki’s cult-classic series, is officially coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms in Q4 2026.

Developed by Ys Net and published by ININ Games, this definitive release of the 2019 title marks the first time Shenmue III will appear on Nintendo hardware, sparking excitement among fans of the Sega Dreamcast era and long-time followers of the Shenmue franchise. ININ Games announced that pre-orders for physical editions are now live through their official website, with the base game priced at €54.99.

For collectors, the publisher is offering both Special and Collector’s Editions, featuring a range of exclusive items: the Special Edition (€74.99) comes in an oversized box containing a Making Of artbook and "The Definitive History of Shenmue" documentary on Blu-ray.

The top-tier Collector’s Edition (€199.99) boasts unique packaging, a physical manual, wooden scroll and keychain, a Ryo Hazuki figurine, and an Art Print bundle.

Notably, pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition have a limited window, closing on May 4, 2026. As described by ININ Games, the Switch 2 edition delivers what the publisher calls the "ultimate Final Full Edition." The company promises a product "completely bug-free, update-free, and fully included on the cartridge.

No downloads, no patches, no waiting – just the complete, perfectly optimized experience, ready to play." This emphasis on a fully-featured, download-free game card caters directly to physical media enthusiasts and collectors alike, ensuring a seamless experience from launch. The news follows last year’s Gamescom reveal and subsequent confirmation for Nintendo platforms.

Initial communications from the developer and publisher had indicated a likely Switch 1 release; however, the latest announcement spotlights the Nintendo Switch 2 as the primary platform.

We have reached out to ININ Games for clarification regarding the status of a Nintendo Switch (first generation) version and will update with further information once available. Shenmue III originally began development in 2015 through a successful Kickstarter campaign, with legendary designer Yu Suzuki at the helm.

The game sought to recreate the unique charm and open-world innovation of the Dreamcast originals, and upon release, it received positive feedback for staying true to its roots.

Industry publication Push Square awarded the initial release a commendable 7/10, noting its faithful adherence to the Shenmue legacy. With the enhanced version’s technical improvements, physical editions, and the series' Nintendo debut, Shenmue III Enhanced on Switch 2 is set to be a milestone not only for the franchise but for fans eager to experience this iconic adventure on new hardware.

Physical pre-orders are available now, and the Shenmue community eagerly awaits its arrival on Nintendo’s latest platform in late 2026.
