ININ Games has confirmed that Shenmue 3 Enhanced will no longer launch this year and is now scheduled for early 2027.

The publisher shared the update in a recent newsletter to fans, saying that extra development time is needed to finalize the enhanced edition for modern platforms.

Shenmue III originally launched in 2019.

The title was developed by Ys Net under series creator Yu Suzuki and published at the time by Deep Silver following a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Shenmue 3 Enhanced has been presented as a remastered and updated release intended to bring Ryo Hazuki's story to contemporary consoles.

In its newsletter, ININ explained that the team is deliberately taking extra time to "get everything right." The publisher said progress is strong but that developers are still finalizing key technical and presentation details, and therefore they are shifting the target window to early 2027.

ININ added that more specific information will be shared with the community in the coming months.

Rewriting the publisher's message in plain terms: ININ told fans that the studio wants Ryo Hazuki to appear at his best on modern hardware, and that the development team is using additional time to polish performance and visuals.

The company said it is making solid progress while working through final tasks and remains committed to an early-2027 release.

This update follows a May communication from ININ that provided technical details — including frame-rate and resolution targets — for Shenmue 3 Enhanced on Nintendo Switch hardware.

That May note was the last significant public update before the recent newsletter confirming the delay.

For Nintendo Switch owners and users of other platforms, ININ’s message signals that the team prefers a later, more refined launch rather than meeting the original timeline.

As with any publisher statement, the definitive release window and platform list will come from ININ in future announcements; the company has promised additional details will be released soon.

Developers, platform holders, and fans who follow Nintendo Direct or check the Nintendo eShop for release listings should expect official store pages and platform confirmations closer to the early-2027 window.

Until then, ININ’s update serves as the authoritative status: Shenmue 3 Enhanced is delayed and now targeted for early 2027.
