ININ Games has pushed back the release window for Shenmue III Enhanced into early 2027, the publisher confirmed in a statement provided to fan site Shenmue Dojo.

The enhanced edition — a remaster of Ys Net’s 2019 release Shenmue 3 — was first announced in 2025 and is intended to bring Ryo Hazuki’s third adventure to several modern platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.

Shenmue 3 initially launched in 2019 to mixed reviews and a divided community; the Enhanced edition has been billed as an effort to address technical issues and modernize the presentation for current hardware.

ININ’s announcement represents the most recent update after the publisher last communicated about the project in March 2026.

In its message to fans, ININ Games said development is taking additional time so the team can finalize quality improvements and platform-specific refinements.

Paraphrasing the publisher: ININ acknowledged players’ eagerness to see Ryo showcased on modern consoles, noted that the team is making good progress, and confirmed they are “finalizing the last details” ahead of an early 2027 release window, with further information to follow.

Alongside the delay, reports tied to the Enhanced edition indicate that ININ will offer physical releases in multiple variants, including standard, special, and collector’s editions.

The enhanced port has also been presented as coming to the Nintendo Switch, making part of Shenmue’s narrative available on Nintendo’s platform for the first time in this updated form.

For context, Shenmue is the long-running series created by Yu Suzuki; Ys Net developed Shenmue 3 after a high-profile Kickstarter and crowdfunding campaign.

The original 2019 release was published by Deep Silver, while ININ Games has taken on publishing duties for this Enhanced edition.

ININ’s statement framed the delay as a quality-driven decision rather than a change in scope, and the publisher has committed to sharing more details as the team approaches the early 2027 launch window.

Fans tracking the project can expect further news about platform-specific features, release dates, and physical edition contents in upcoming updates.
