The shutdown applies to both the Nintendo Switch and mobile device versions of the game, closing out nearly six years of live service for the title.
In its official notice, The Pokémon Company expressed gratitude to the player community for their support since the Switch launch in July 2021 and said it will mark the conclusion of service with a special in-game event.
The company reiterated that the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will proceed as previously announced and encouraged players to enjoy the game through the final day of service.
Operational changes take effect immediately.
The Pokémon Company has suspended Aeos gem sales as of the announcement date; players who already own Aeos gems will still be able to use them until service ends.
In addition, new Unite Club membership purchases and automatic renewals have been halted.
Ahead of the shutdown, the game will receive a final update and a timed event that allows players to obtain various in-game items, including Unite licenses and Holowear.
The update also adds a new Library feature designed to preserve certain records and in-game content after service ends, provided players complete a required data download before the cutoff.
Details on the Library feature are specific: players who complete the required library data download prior to Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC will be able to access the Library after service ends to view select records and content.
Players who do not complete the download before the deadline will not have access to the Library post-shutdown.
The company cautioned that Library data generally cannot be transferred between devices and that support for the Library will not be available after service ends.
Players are directed to contact Support for any issues prior to the March 23, 2027, 00:00 UTC deadline.
The Pokémon Company also stated that, following the end of service, the “Pokémon UNITE Game Content Guidelines for Online Platforms” will no longer be published or maintained, and the company will not provide support for the use of Pokémon UNITE video and images.
For the full announcement and additional technical details, players can consult the official Pokémon UNITE website.
The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive event remains scheduled to occur as previously communicated.
