Honda and The Pokémon Company have officially unveiled a near life-size replica of Koraidon, the legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet, in an innovative collaboration set to spotlight the intersection of gaming and advanced mobility technology.
The unveiling follows recent teasers, marking Honda’s continued engagement with iconic pop culture franchises and leveraging their advanced robotics expertise.
The Koraidon bike prototype will be displayed at the Honda Welcome Plaza in Japan from March 7th to March 9th, 2025.
This collaborative project comes after Pokémon's joint effort with Toyota last year, which featured a Miraidon motorbike inspired by another Pokémon Scarlet and Violet legendary.
Now, Honda is taking the spotlight, bringing Koraidon—also known as the red legendary Pokémon—to life in a stunning, nearly life-size form.
The project aims to authentically reproduce Koraidon's distinct look, delivering an immersive real-world homage to fans of the Nintendo Switch title.
According to information provided on Honda’s official website, the Koraidon bike was designed using Honda’s proprietary self-balancing technology, a system the company debuted to the world at CES 2017 as Honda Riding Assist.
This balance system, rooted in Honda’s research and development of the ASIMO humanoid robot, allows the life-size Koraidon to walk on all four legs as well as stand unsupported on two wheels—capabilities not seen in the original Pokémon game.
"With expertise in robotics and the spirit of innovation, Honda has crafted a faithful reproduction of Koraidon's dimensions and distinctive design elements," the company stated, emphasizing both the technological achievement and cooperation with The Pokémon Company.
Koraidon was introduced as a Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet, which launched globally for the Nintendo Switch in November 2022.
The game quickly became one of the platform’s most successful titles, contributing to the series’ ongoing popularity and acclaim.
The real-life Koraidon bike exemplifies the enduring appeal of the Pokémon franchise and highlights how leading Japanese companies continue to bridge the gap between digital media and real-world technological advancements.
The Honda Koraidon bike will be available for public viewing at the Honda Welcome Plaza from March 7th to March 9th, capturing the imagination of Pokémon and Nintendo Switch fans alike.
This collaboration celebrates the evolving relationship between the gaming industry, celebrated by Nintendo Direct announcements and globally recognized IP, and Japan’s storied history of innovation in engineering and design.
With Pokémon’s legacy of groundbreaking collaborations and Honda’s ongoing commitment to mobility innovation, the Koraidon bike stands as a distinctive symbol of where gaming culture and advanced technology meet.
