Nintendo has further enriched its digital game music service with the latest update to the Nintendo Music app, delivering an expanded soundtrack selection for its growing user base.

Launching in October 2023, the Nintendo Music app was devised to provide Nintendo Switch Online members access to an ever-expanding archive of iconic video game soundtracks, making it a valuable resource for fans and music enthusiasts alike. Continuing its commitment to celebrate Nintendo’s musical legacy, the company’s newest content addition highlights the complete soundtrack from Pokémon Sword and Shield.

This significant update contributes nearly five hours of new listening material, featuring a total of 138 tracks drawn from the original titles.

Notably, the update includes the highly acclaimed Battle Tower theme composed by Toby Fox, renowned creator of Undertale, marking a celebrated crossover between development talent in the industry. Pokémon Sword and Shield, developed by Game Freak and released in November 2019 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, became pivotal entries in the core Pokémon series, achieving global sales surpassing 25 million copies as of 2024.

The games are particularly recognized for their dynamic music compositions, which blend traditional Pokémon themes with fresh, energetic arrangements suited to the Nintendo Switch platform. Nintendo Music, available as a perk for Nintendo Switch Online members, has steadily expanded since its debut with soundtracks from beloved franchises including Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and more.

The app’s user-friendly interface allows seamless browsing, streaming, and sharing of game music, continuing to make classic and contemporary tracks accessible to a worldwide audience via iOS and Android devices. In a statement regarding the continued growth of Nintendo Music, the company noted its ongoing mission to connect fans with the memorable audio experiences crafted across its extensive game library.

With regular updates like this Pokémon Sword and Shield soundtrack expansion, Nintendo demonstrates a sustained investment in game music preservation and fan engagement. Nintendo Music is currently available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Nintendo Switch Online members can access the service at no additional cost, providing a robust platform to revisit and discover the soundtracks that have defined Nintendo’s gaming heritage.
