Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on Nintendo Switch are set to delight fans with a slate of time-limited in-game events as The Pokémon Company marks Japan’s renowned Golden Week holiday in 2025.
These Japan-centric festivities began on April 30 and run through May 8, offering players exclusive opportunities to catch rare Pokémon and participate in dynamic raid battles.
Among the holiday’s highlights is the return of the Gimmighoul Tera Raid event.
Available until May 8 at 23:59 UTC, trainers can join special Tera Raid Battles featuring Gimmighoul.
Most notably, this event is currently the only method to encounter a Shiny Gimmighoul in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, albeit with an exceptionally low appearance rate.
Fans seeking to complete their Shiny Pokédex should seize this limited-time opportunity.
In addition to the Gimmighoul raid, The Pokémon Company has introduced a "Strike Gold" Mass Outbreak event offering increased Shiny rates on select yellow and gold-colored Pokémon.
During this event, players may come across more frequent outbreaks of Wiglett in the Paldea region, Growlithe in Kitakami, and Swablu within the Terarium.
As with all Mass Outbreaks in Scarlet and Violet, these focused encounters greatly enhance the odds of capturing these sought-after Shiny variants, making the event a major draw for dedicated collectors.
A spokesperson for The Pokémon Company emphasized the intent behind these events: fostering excitement and community engagement during Golden Week by delivering fresh gameplay experiences.
"We’re providing trainers with expanded opportunities to discover and add rare Pokémon to their collections during this festive period," the company noted in a recent update.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, first launched for the Nintendo Switch in November 2022, represent the latest mainline entries in the storied Pokémon franchise.
The titles have achieved significant commercial success, breaking sales records and introducing expansive open-world gameplay to the series.
Seasonal in-game events such as the Golden Week celebrations reflect The Pokémon Company’s ongoing commitment to supporting its global player base with regular content updates and special challenges.
Players can access the Gimmighoul Tera Raid and "Strike Gold" Mass Outbreak events by updating their game’s online features.
Both events conclude on May 8, 2025 at 23:59 UTC.
