In celebration of Japan’s highly anticipated Golden Week holidays, The Pokémon Company has officially announced a series of special in-game events for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on Nintendo Switch.
From April 30th to May 8th, 2025, players around the globe will have new opportunities to participate in unique Tera Raid Battle and Mass Outbreak events, delivering renewed excitement for trainers both casual and competitive.
A highlight of the event is the return of the Gimmighoul Tera Raid Battle.
This limited-time event, which was previously a major draw for dedicated collectors, provides another chance for players to engage in Tera Raid Battles with the elusive Gimmighoul.
Most notably, there is a slim opportunity to encounter a Shiny Gimmighoul—currently, this Tera Raid remains the only legitimate way to add the Shiny variant of Gimmighoul to one’s Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Serebii.net, a trusted authority in Pokémon news, confirmed the event’s schedule, noting, “The upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raid Battle event will feature Gimmighoul from April 30th through May 8th, 2025.” Trainers are encouraged not to miss this rare event, as the availability of Shiny Gimmighoul is extremely limited and highly sought after within the community.
Beyond the headline Tera Raid, The Pokémon Company is expanding the celebratory festivities with special Mass Outbreak events.
These outbreaks will focus on Pokémon featuring yellow or gold Shiny colorations—a fitting tribute to the Golden Week holiday.
The highlighted Pokémon and their corresponding regions are:
- Wiglett appearing in the Paldea region
- Growlithe available in Kitakami
- Swablu present in the Terarium
During the event period, these featured Pokémon will have greatly increased Shiny encounter rates as part of the Mass Outbreak system, providing trainers with enhanced opportunities to capture rare, Shiny versions of these species for their collection.
As always, participation in these events requires a copy of Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet and access to the Nintendo Switch platform.
These events continue The Pokémon Company and Game Freak’s tradition of aligning in-game content with major cultural milestones, driving ongoing engagement with the Pokémon franchise well after initial release.
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have been successful entries for Nintendo Switch, selling millions of copies globally since their respective launches in late 2022, and the addition of timely special events like Golden Week ensures the titles remain vibrant and active within the gaming community.
