Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Nintendo Switch OLED Console Launches Ahead of Game Release

Nintendo has officially launched the highly anticipated Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Nintendo Switch OLED console, just ahead of the global release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

This limited edition hardware offers fans a visually striking addition to their collections, celebrating the next evolution in the long-running Pokémon franchise developed by Game Freak. The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Nintendo Switch OLED features exclusive artwork inspired by the Paldea region, including distinctive imagery of the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon.

The console’s Joy-Con controllers showcase unique color schemes that reflect the respective titles’ themes, while the dock is adorned with eye-catching emblems and vibrant patterns connected to the upcoming games.

This collaboration is another example of Nintendo’s commitment to launching collectible hardware alongside major first-party titles. Announced in September 2022 via an official Nintendo Direct presentation, the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Switch OLED became available for purchase through major retailers on November 4, 2022.

Priced at $359.99 USD, the system is offered at both Best Buy and Amazon, subject to availability.

The release intentionally precedes the official game launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet scheduled for November 18, 2022, giving dedicated trainers and collectors an opportunity to gear up ahead of time. Nintendo stated that the special edition console is designed as a celebration of the innovative gameplay and expansive world introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, setting a new standard for Pokémon experiences on the platform.

Game Freak, in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, continues to push the boundaries of the series with full open-world exploration on Nintendo Switch hardware, further enhancing the appeal of the new OLED model.
