Description

The Pokémon Company has officially kicked off the inaugural season of Ranked Battles for Pokémon Legends Z-A, bringing competitive excitement to players on the Nintendo Switch.

This highly anticipated feature is now accessible through the Z-A Battle Club menu, allowing trainers worldwide to put their battling skills to the test and climb the competitive ranks. Pokémon Legends Z-A, developed by the renowned Pokémon Company, builds on the rich legacy of the Pokémon franchise.

It introduces new gameplay dynamics and a robust competitive mode, which is now headlined by the first-ever Ranked Battles season.

For those unfamiliar, the Nintendo Switch title has quickly garnered attention since its debut, routinely ranking high on the Nintendo eShop and drawing in trainers with its innovative battle mechanics and homage to classic Pokémon elements. To participate in Ranked Battles, players simply select the appropriate option within the Z-A Battle Club.

During this opening season, a coveted reward awaits the most dedicated trainers: those who reach Rank K will receive the exclusive Greninja Mega Stone, a powerful item currently unavailable through any other means. Players can accumulate points necessary for climbing the ranks by performing a variety of actions in battle.

These actions include knocking out an opponent’s Pokémon, executing the first or final attack in a match, picking up items ahead of their opponents, being the first to Mega Evolve a Pokémon, and surviving an entire battle without fainting.

Additional ways to earn points include attacking the greatest number of Pokémon at full health, defeating Mega Evolved Pokémon (especially while Mega Evolved yourself), landing the most attacks in a match, defeating a Pokémon from each other trainer present, and utilizing Super-Effective moves five or more times per battle. Importantly, all participants will earn points regardless of their battle outcome, promoting an inclusive competitive environment and encouraging newcomers to engage with the ranked system.

This approach reflects the Pokémon Company’s ongoing commitment to fostering both accessibility and depth within its games. At this time, reaching Rank K in the current season—which runs until November 5, 2025—is the only confirmed method for unlocking the Greninja Mega Stone.

The Pokémon Company has confirmed that alternative acquisition methods may be introduced in the future, but early participation ensures trainers can secure this exclusive reward ahead of time. Players are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity and test their skills against the best in the Pokémon Legends Z-A community.

Stay tuned to official channels and the Nintendo eShop for upcoming updates, new event announcements, and future competitive features as the franchise continues to evolve on Nintendo Switch.
