Pokémon Legends: Z-A Demo Playable on Nintendo Switch 2 at Pokémon World Championships and Gamescom 2025
Pokémon fans eagerly awaiting the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 will soon have a chance to experience the groundbreaking title ahead of its official launch.
Developed by The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is one of the year’s most anticipated titles, building on the successful formula of its predecessor, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and promising to push the franchise forward with new gameplay features and graphics optimized for the next-generation Switch 2 hardware.
This October, trainers worldwide will finally be able to step into the reimagined world of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
However, The Pokémon Company has announced plans to offer a playable demo of the game before its global release.
The first public hands-on opportunity will take place during the Pokémon World Championships 2025, which will be held in Anaheim, California from August 15th through August 17th.
Players attending the event will have an exclusive chance to try out the Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, marking a significant moment for both the game and the hardware.
Shortly after, the same demo will be available at Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany from August 20th to August 24th.
Gamescom is well known as one of the world’s largest gaming trade fairs, providing an ideal stage for high-profile titles such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A to reach an international audience.
Details regarding the content and length of the demo have not yet been published, but The Pokémon Company has stated that further updates will follow as the event dates approach.
While fans attending these major events can look forward to their first taste of the next mainline entry, no information has been confirmed regarding the possibility of the demo releasing on the Nintendo eShop for at-home players.
The Pokémon Company has indicated it will provide updates should additional demo locations or eShop release plans be announced.
This surge of news for Pokémon Legends: Z-A follows the recent July Pokémon Presents showcase, which debuted an all-new trailer featuring the introduction of Mega Dragonite and other much-anticipated game features.
Nintendo has also taken steps to promote the new Switch 2 system, rolling out kiosks that include playable demos for upcoming titles, such as Donkey Kong Bananza, alongside Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
As the countdown to release continues, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is shaping up to be a watershed moment for the Nintendo Switch 2, with early previews poised to drive excitement and engagement across the gaming community.
