Pokémon GO Mythical Wishes Season: New Events and Mega Raid Day Launch on December 1
As the popular mobile sensation Pokémon GO prepares to bid farewell to its Season of Light, developer Niantic is already unveiling the next chapter in the game’s evolving calendar.
Starting on December 1, 2022, the new in-game season, titled 'Mythical Wishes,' begins and promises a fresh wave of content, events, and mythical Pokémon encounters for players worldwide.
This latest update continues Niantic’s tradition of keeping Pokémon GO vibrant and engaging, more than six years after its initial launch on iOS, Android, and the eShop.
Ahead of the season’s debut, Niantic released a trailer highlighting new features, including the teasing of Generation III favorites.
The video gives a sneak peek at upcoming challenges and makes it clear that 'Mythical Wishes' is set to introduce new Mega Evolutions to the game.
According to the official announcement, the season's first major event will be the ‘Heading to Hoenn Mega Raid Day,’ scheduled for December 3.
This event will spotlight the Mega Evolved forms of the Hoenn region starters: Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert.
Trainers can participate in Raid Battles to challenge and potentially add these powerful Pokémon to their collections.
In addition to Mega Raid Day, the coming season is stacked with special events and returning favorites.
Noted Pokémon news source SerebiiNet detailed via social media a comprehensive list of Mythical Wishes season activities, stretching well into late December.
Among these is confirmation of a 'Winter Holiday' event series and a special Raid Day on December 24, offering players unique activities during the festive period.
Pokémon GO’s Mythical Wishes season will run until March 1, 2023.
Niantic has confirmed a long-running storyline throughout the season, following the narrative success seen with Cosmog during the recent Season of Light.
The end of the latest trailer includes subtle hints—silhouettes of legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon—suggesting they may feature prominently in future events, though official details will be shared as the season progresses.
Since launching in 2016, Pokémon GO has cemented itself as a staple in mobile and Nintendo Switch companion gaming, with ongoing updates and community-driven features.
As Niantic continues its robust event schedule, the Mythical Wishes season is poised to keep the game’s global community engaged with both new and recurring in-game adventures.
