Pokémon Legends Z-A Unveils Mega Hawlucha in New Trailer Ahead of Switch Release

The Pokémon Company International has officially introduced Mega Hawlucha in a spectacular new trailer for the highly anticipated Pokémon Legends Z-A.

This revelation comes as excitement builds around the upcoming release of the next major installment in the Pokémon franchise, which will arrive worldwide on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2025. The new Mega Evolution was revealed in an animated feature titled "Full Match: Hawlucha vs.

Machamp!" The short showcased an action-packed showdown, promoting what the company referred to as “the mega matchup of the millennium.” This highlights The Pokémon Company International’s ongoing commitment to innovative Pokémon character development and dynamic battle presentations. Mega Hawlucha, known as the Wrestling Pokémon, is a powerful dual-type Fighting and Flying Pokémon.

Standing at 3 feet 3 inches (1 meter) and weighing 55.1 pounds (25 kilograms), Mega Hawlucha brings a new layer of strategy and excitement to the battle scene in Pokémon Legends Z-A.

According to the official press release accompanying the reveal, Mega Hawlucha "builds greater strength through Mega Evolution, allowing it to absorb repeated hits from opposing attacks before launching powerful counterattacks." The press release further explained that Mega Hawlucha's battle style involves luring opponents into offensive moves, responding with a retaliatory strike that can flinch the foe, and then capitalizing with its signature move, Flying Press, to secure victory. Pokémon Legends Z-A is set in the iconic Lumiose City, which is undergoing an extensive urban redevelopment initiative to foster harmonious coexistence between humans and Pokémon.

Players will have the opportunity to bond with a new partner Pokémon, choosing from Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile at the outset of their adventure.
