LEGO Pokémon Smart Play Sets Arrive August 1, 2026 — New Interactive LEGO Pokémon Line Revealed

The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have confirmed a major expansion of their LEGO Pokémon line with twelve new LEGO Pokémon Smart Play sets due August 1, 2026.

The announcement follows the initial wave of LEGO Pokémon products released earlier this year and introduces interactive Smart Play technology that aims to make builds react to children’s actions.

The new lineup covers a broad selection of franchise favorites and play styles.

Highlights include LEGO Pokémon Smart Play: Training House with Pikachu (72164), an all-in-one starter set for ages 6+ that ships with one Smart Brick, four Tags, a figure and a charger; LEGO Pokémon Smart Play: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (72167), an 8+ all-in-one battle set including two Smart Bricks and two figures; and LEGO Pokémon Smart Play: Mewtwo’s Lab Break (72163), a 10+ compatible set featuring an adjustable lab tank and a Mewtwo figure.

Other announced products feature Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Jigglypuff, Eevee, Lapras, Umbreon, Garchomp, Cubone, Gengar, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly and Mythical Mew, each offered with play features appropriate to their set numbers and age recommendations.

The new sets use LEGO Smart Play components — Smart Bricks and Tags — that enable constructed Pokémon figures to respond during play.

The announcement describes this line as focused on “training, nurturing and battling,” and notes that select purchases will qualify for a Gift with Purchase: LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night.

Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at The LEGO Group, said the collaboration brings the two brands together to create interactive, imaginative play.

In her remarks, Goldin explained that LEGO Pokémon will for the first time respond to children’s actions, letting builders train and interact with LEGO Pokémon in ways meant to encourage creativity, confidence and storytelling.

Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, added that the partnership and Smart Brick technology extend Pokémon’s focus on discovery and imagination by offering hands-on experiences for a new generation of fans.

Pre-orders for all August 1, 2026 LEGO Pokémon Smart Play sets are open now via the LEGO online store and select retailers.

The Pokémon franchise retains strong ties to Nintendo platforms — including the Nintendo Switch — though these LEGO products are physical construction sets sold through traditional and online retail channels rather than digital storefronts like the Nintendo eShop.
