Nintendo closed its latest Nintendo Direct with a major Kirby reveal: Kirby and the World Beyond, a new entry scheduled to launch exclusively on the Switch 2 in Spring 2027.

The announcement, covered by Nintendo Life, reintroduces the franchise for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware ahead of Kirby’s 35th anniversary next year.

Kirby is a long-running Nintendo property created by Masahiro Sakurai and developed primarily by HAL Laboratory.

The character first debuted in 1992 with Kirby’s Dream Land on the Game Boy, and the series has since appeared across Nintendo platforms including the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, GameCube, DS, Wii, 3DS, Wii U and Switch.

This new title continues that platform lineage by arriving on Nintendo’s upcoming console.

At the end of the showcase, Nintendo producer Yoshiaki Koizumi indicated the company will provide additional details about planned anniversary activities at a later date.

In clear terms, Koizumi told viewers that more information about Kirby’s 35th anniversary celebrations will be shared in the future, without committing to a specific timeline.

Nintendo also released an official 35th anniversary logo alongside the reveal.

In related franchise news, Nintendo announced two additional Kirby Air Riders amiibo and confirmed that the classic title will receive a new in-game event at an unspecified future time.

These moves echo Nintendo’s broader approach to cross-promotion—pairing new game announcements with amiibo releases and in-game events to support ongoing engagement.

With Kirby and the World Beyond slated for Spring 2027 exclusivity on Switch 2, fans and industry observers can expect Nintendo to use the coming months to expand on gameplay details, release date specifics, and anniversary programming.

For now, the confirmed facts are the platform exclusivity, the seasonal release window, the anniversary branding, and Nintendo’s stated intention to release more information later.
