The event brings together Sega and exhibition partners to present the franchise’s history through playable titles, rare development documents, original artwork and exclusive merchandise.
Sonic – created by Sega and first released on June 23, 1991 – remains one of the industry’s most enduring IPs, with entries available across consoles including releases on Nintendo Switch and digital storefronts such as the eShop.
Organizers and exhibition overview
The exhibition is a collaboration between Ikebukuro PARCO, R11R Inc., kanon Inc., and Sega Corporation, with PARCO ART overseeing artist participation.
Branded SONIC the Exhibition -ACROSS GENERATIONS-, the show is staged in the PARCO FACTORY on the 7th floor of Ikebukuro PARCO.
It runs from Friday, October 9, 2026, through Sunday, November 1, 2026.
General admission is set at 1,500 yen; young children accompanied by caregivers are admitted free.
Ticket sales for the first three days will be handled via a lottery system.
Exhibits and development materials
PARCO ART says the exhibition will feature playable Sonic titles spanning the series alongside historically significant materials.
Curators have announced scripts and setting materials for various Sonic games — some reportedly unseen in public — with the stated goal of highlighting the development teams’ creative and technical effort across decades.
The show also includes a dedicated gallery of commissioned pieces: PARCO ART lists 16 contemporary artists contributing original Sonic-related artwork, whom it describes as creators with a deep affection for the blue hedgehog and his cast.

The 16 participating artists named on the exhibition website include Yusuke Nakamura, Taku Inoue, TSCR, HUKANZEN, Yuuki Kikuchi, STUDY (優作), Aoi Neon, Panasony™, Ryosuke Takeuchi, BRIDGE SHIP HOUSE, SIO (The TOMODACHI!), Tomowaka, move nao, Hakuikishiroi, Yuuki Imada and nirohsy.

Context for fans and developers
For developers and industry observers, the exhibit provides a rare, archival look at the evolution of a major franchise that has appeared on many platforms and in crossover projects over its 35-year history.
With playable stations, production artifacts and original art, SONIC the Exhibition -ACROSS GENERATIONS- is positioned as both a fan-oriented celebration and a document of game development practice.
