Honda and The Pokémon Company are joining forces to bring fans a unique blend of gaming culture and cutting-edge engineering with the upcoming Honda Koraidon motorcycle.
This new collaboration follows the success of Toyota’s Miraidon motorcycle, signaling a growing trend of iconic Pokémon-themed vehicles.
The highly anticipated Honda Koraidon project will be showcased at the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Tokyo, Japan, from March 7 to March 9, 2025.
The Koraidon, a Legendary Pokémon originally featured in Pokémon Scarlet for the Nintendo Switch, stands as a symbol of adventure and technological marvel in the Pokémon universe.
Honda, in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, has meticulously recreated Koraidon's form at nearly life-size, capturing its distinct features and presence with extraordinary detail.
This initiative highlights Honda’s ongoing commitment to advancing its design and mobility technologies while celebrating beloved gaming IPs.
The Honda Koraidon project brings together a specialized team of approximately 40 engineers, drawing expertise from both the company’s Motorcycle and Power Products Businesses and its Innovative Research Excellence division.
Building on the inspiration of Toyota Engineering Society’s Miraidon motorcycle project — which epitomized the slogan “Adults’ Devotion Make Children’s Dreams Come True” — Honda’s team adopted a similar mission.
The project is guided by the principle of monozukuri, the traditional Japanese art of manufacturing, and operates under the banner “Honda’s Devotion Make Children’s Dreams Come True.”
According to official statements, the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama will host a special, stationary display of the Koraidon motorcycle due to space constraints.
However, visitors will be able to observe the integration of advanced technologies, including Honda’s proprietary self-balancing system.
This technology, which first gained attention with the Honda Riding Assist showcased at CES 2017, enables the Koraidon motorcycle to stand upright independently and mimic the creature’s movements — such as walking on four legs and standing on two wheels — bridging the gap between digital fantasy and real-world mobility.
Honda’s history with self-balancing technology traces back to its groundbreaking ASIMO humanoid robot research, demonstrating the company's prowess in innovative robotics and engineering.
Additional features of the Honda Koraidon include dynamic movement in its hands, legs, neck, and face, synchronized with its simulated 'sprinting' behavior — staying true to Koraidon's in-game abilities.
Honda aims to reproduce the Pokémon’s expressive facial features, including eye and eyelid movements, making the motorcycle a striking representation of game design realized in physical form.
Fans and industry observers can visit the official exhibition at Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama, located in Minato-ku, Tokyo, from March 7–9, 2025.
The event is open to the public, offering opportunities for enthusiasts to witness the intersection of gaming innovation and next-generation vehicle technology.
This groundbreaking collaboration not only celebrates the ongoing popularity of Pokémon Scarlet and the Nintendo Switch platform but also underscores the possibilities at the crossroads of entertainment and engineering.
