Polymega Adds The Fallen Angels and Classic Psikyo Titles to Collection Lineup

Polymega Adds The Fallen Angels and Classic Psikyo Titles to Collection Lineup Retro gaming enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Polymega, the modular retro gaming console from Playmaji, unveils its latest collections featuring rare and classic titles.

Among the most significant announcements is the long-awaited home debut of The Fallen Angels (Daraku Tenshi), a cult hit arcade fighter developed by Steel Hearts and originally published by Psikyo in 1998.

Despite persistent reports of cancellation and hybrid release, The Fallen Angels saw limited distribution in Japanese arcades but, until now, has never been ported to any home system. The two new Polymega collections are now available for order through the Polymega web store.

Polymega Collection 17: Gunbird is led by the acclaimed Psikyo shoot-'em-up Gunbird series, comprising both the original Gunbird and its sequel Gunbird 2.

The collection expands further, including several more legendary titles: Gunbarich, Cybattler, Exerion, Sky Fox, Second Earth: Gratia, E.D.F / Super E.D.F, and Operation: Logic Bomb, bringing together a rich selection of arcade and Super Nintendo (SNES/SFC) classics.

Complementing this lineup, Polymega Collection 18: Rival Turf brings together beat 'em up favorites from Jaleco, prominently featuring Rival Turf (known as Rushing Beat in Japan) alongside its sequels, Brawl Brothers and Peace Keepers, as well as Tuff E Nuff and Ninja Kazan.

The true centerpiece of the collection, however, is the inclusion of The Fallen Angels (Daraku Tenshi) arcade version, marking its first-ever official appearance outside arcade cabinets. Polymega's makers, Playmaji, underscored the historical value of The Fallen Angels, noting the game's unique visual style and lasting influence.

Playmaji commented that certain team members from Daraku Tenshi were later rumored to have joined Neo Geo giant SNK, infusing their character design flair and visual sensibilities into later installments of The King of Fighters series.

The game's lead artist, Tomoyuki Kotani, went on to contribute to notable titles such as The King of Fighters '99, 2000, and 2001, as well as renowned shoot-'em-ups Mushihimesama, Ibara, and Pink Sweets: Ibara Sorekara. The official lineups for the new Polymega collections are as follows: Polymega Collection 17: Gunbird - GUNBIRD (ARC, SAT-J) - GUNBIRD 2 (ARC) - GUNBARICH (ARC) - CYBATTLER (ARC) - EXERION (ARC) - SKY FOX (ARC) - SECOND EARTH: GRATIA (ARC) - E.D.F / SUPER E.D.F (ARC, SNES/SFC) - OPERATION: LOGIC BOMB (SNES/SFC) Polymega Collection 18: Rival Turf - RIVAL TURF!
