Earthion fans and retro hardware collectors have reason to pay attention: Brazilian firm Games Care, in partnership with Versao Ltda., has unveiled a hand-built arcade controller inspired by the shooter’s in-game YK-IIA fighter.

The Genesis / Mega Drive shoot ’em up Earthion — created by composer-turned-developer Yuzo Koshiro — launched on PC and consoles last year and is reportedly receiving an official cartridge release for the Mega Drive / Genesis.

Games Care, the company known for its FPGA recreation of the unreleased Sega Neptune hardware, is leading production on the YK-IIA Arcade Controller.

The accessory is being produced in limited quantities, with each unit assembled by hand and outfitted with pro-grade components intended to match the game’s cockpit aesthetic.

The controller was introduced alongside a trailer that prominently showcases the new hardware.

Observers noted that the trailer’s artwork includes areas of blurred or inconsistent text and detailing that are characteristic of generative AI image tools.

In journalistic terms: the promotional footage appears to feature imagery produced or enhanced with GenAI, with some text and logo elements showing atypical blending and blur.

The controller’s marketing copy emphasizes fidelity and responsiveness.

In plain language, the promotional material describes the YK-IIA Arcade Controller as a specifically tailored control package built to meet the game’s demands, hand-assembled with attention to detail and designed for precise, responsive play.

Separately, Earthion creator Yuzo Koshiro provided an update regarding the project’s Mega Drive (MD) cartridge version.

He stated that hardware checks using a test PCB are nearly complete and that the team is carefully considering production quantities because sales volume is difficult to predict.

Koshiro added that details on pre-orders will be announced soon and asked fans to wait a little longer for that information.

Interest registration for the YK-IIA Arcade Controller is open through the teams’ announced channels, though it is not yet confirmed whether units will be sold outside Brazil.

As Earthion’s MD release proceeds through final checks, the collaboration between Games Care and Versao Ltda. underscores the ongoing crossover between modern indie releases and the retro-cartridge and accessory market.
