Description

Apex Legends has officially debuted on the Nintendo Switch 2, following a much-anticipated announcement during last week's Nintendo Partner Showcase.

This milestone marks the latest evolution for Respawn Entertainment's acclaimed free-to-play battle royale, bringing enhanced performance and new incentives to fans across Nintendo's latest hardware. Designed with Switch 2's improved capabilities in mind, Apex Legends now supports gameplay at up to 60 frames per second (FPS), depending on the player's monitor and hardware compatibility.

In docked mode, the title runs at a crisp 1920x1080 resolution, while undocked gameplay maintains strong visual fidelity at 1792x1008.

Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that these performance gains represent a significant step up from the previous Nintendo Switch release, providing players with a smoother and more immersive experience. For current and returning players, the upgrade process is streamlined.

Upon logging in, users will be prompted to download the new version of Apex Legends directly from the Nintendo eShop on the Switch 2.

Once the update is installed, players have the option to remove the legacy "Apex Legends for Nintendo Switch" version from their systems, freeing up useful storage space.

The upgraded title requires a substantial 31.7 GB of free space, highlighting the technological leap as Respawn takes full advantage of the Switch 2’s expanded hardware capabilities. As an added incentive, Respawn and EA have rolled out a limited-time offer for loyal fans.

Anyone signing into their Apex Legends account on either the Switch or Switch 2 before September 16, 2025, will receive an exclusive "P.A.T.H." Pathfinder Skin as a token of appreciation. With the latest update, Apex Legends continues its reputation for dynamic post-launch support.

Patch notes with complete details on performance optimizations, new features, and bug fixes are available on EA's official website.

As with previous entries in the series, the Switch 2 version of Apex Legends remains a free download, making it accessible to both new and returning players eager to join the action. Since its original release, Apex Legends has set new standards for fast-paced, squad-based shooters, amassing a global audience across multiple platforms.

The seamless launch on Nintendo Switch 2 not only demonstrates Respawn Entertainment’s commitment to quality but also bolsters Nintendo’s expanding library of AAA titles designed for its next-generation hardware.
