Apex Legends Switch Support Ends: Final Update Announced, Progress Carries to Switch 2

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have officially announced the conclusion of Apex Legends support on the original Nintendo Switch system, marking an end to updates after Season 29.

Apex Legends, the popular free-to-play battle royale title developed by Respawn Entertainment, debuted on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021, expanding its player base with a portable version available through the Nintendo eShop. In a recent statement, Respawn Entertainment confirmed that Season 29, released last August, will serve as the game's final major update for the original Nintendo Switch platform.

While players can continue to join matches, earn rewards, and make use of their current in-game balance until August 4, 2026, support will cease with the arrival of Season 30.

After this point, Apex Legends will no longer be accessible on Nintendo Switch, nor will this version be able to connect to the game's servers. Respawn reiterated, "Season 29 is the last content update for Apex Legends on Nintendo Switch.

Future seasons and updates will continue for Nintendo Switch 2." The developer also emphasized that all player progress, purchases, and account data are tied to the individual’s EA account, enabling seamless migration to Nintendo Switch 2.

This means all items, skins, Apex Coins, and earned rewards accumulated on Nintendo Switch will transfer automatically to Switch 2, even if players upgrade to the new platform after August 4, 2026. From August 4, 2026, in-game premium currency will no longer be available for purchase on the original Switch.

Players are encouraged to utilize any outstanding balances before this date, with the reassurance that these funds and any unlocked content will be accessible upon switching to the Nintendo Switch 2 version.

Additionally, Respawn notes that in certain regions, local regulations require digital currency to be used within 180 days of purchase, urging players to review their balances accordingly. Apex Legends will remain supported on all other current platforms, with Respawn affirming its commitment to delivering a high-quality, evolving experience for its global community.

The company credited Nintendo’s investment in the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, which provides “a great handheld experience” and allows Apex Legends to continue thriving for handheld fans. In closing, Respawn thanked the Nintendo community for its support since day one, expressing hope to see players transition to the Dropship on Nintendo Switch 2.

For more details about account migration, data transfer, and future updates, players are encouraged to consult the official Apex Legends website and FAQ.

The move ensures that progress and purchases are preserved as the Apex Legends community migrates to Nintendo’s next-generation console, maintaining continuity for Switch players eager to continue battling on the go.
