The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has secured a major commercial milestone in the United Kingdom, becoming the second-biggest Zelda launch in the market by physical sales and the largest physical game release of 2026 so far.

Released for Nintendo Switch 2 and available digitally on the Nintendo eShop, the remake has outperformed several high-profile multiplatform titles in its opening week.

Sales context and comparisons

Industry analyst data cited by The Game Business indicates that the remake’s first week in the UK was approximately 35% larger in physical sales than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s opening week across Switch and Wii U in 2017.

According to Nielsen IQ figures referenced by The Game Business editor-in-chief Chris Dring, Ocarina of Time’s debut is roughly half the size of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s first-week physical sales — a gap Dring attributed in part to differences in install base between release windows.

Paraphrasing the notable industry commentary, Dring told followers that Ocarina of Time is ‘‘the UK’s second-biggest Zelda launch of all time (physical sales only)’’ and that it is ‘‘easily the fastest-selling classic-era Zelda title’’ his outlet has tracked.

He added that the remake is comfortably the year’s biggest physical launch to date, surpassing releases such as Resident Evil Requiem, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and EA Sports FC 27 in the UK market.
