Nintendo has officially unveiled two major online tournaments for North American players in 2019: the Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate North America Open 2019 and the Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019.
The announcement further underscores Nintendo’s commitment to community-driven esports and showcases the ongoing competitive appeal of these top-selling Nintendo Switch titles.
Both tournaments are open for entry and free to register, allowing players from across the United States, Canada, and Mexico (with eligibility ages set at 13+ or 18+ for Mexico) to participate.
The events require access to a Nintendo Switch system, either Splatoon 2 or Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate, a reliable high-speed internet connection, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Registration for both competitions is managed via the trusted esports platform Battlefy.

Ultimate North America Open 2019 Event Details
Nintendo will host three Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate online events, each offering regional qualifiers and culminating in livestreamed finals.
Players from the Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast regions are invited to compete in the following scheduled events:
- Online Event 1: Qualifiers on February 2, Finals on February 9 (registration closes February 2 at 9 a.m.

- Online Event 2: Qualifiers on February 16, Finals on March 2 (registration closes February 16 at 9 a.m.

- Online Event 3: Qualifiers on March 9, Finals on March 16 (registration closes March 9 at 9 a.m.

The top finisher from each region’s qualifier will move forward to the Final Event.
All Online Qualifier Finals will be streamed live for fans and competitors alike.
Splatoon 2 North America Inkling Open 2019 Schedule and Prizes
The Splatoon 2 Ink Pools Online Qualifier starts on February 10 at 9 a.m.
PT, concluding after the eight best teams are determined.
The next phase—the Qualifier Finals—occurs on March 2, where the four leading teams will advance.
Additional details on livestream coverage will follow as the competition proceeds.
Each member of the top four teams from the Splatoon 2 Qualifier Finals will receive a prize package that includes a slot in the Final Event, scheduled for March 30 at the PAX Arena in Boston, as well as daily PAX badges, three nights of lodging, and round-trip airfare (with an approximate retail value of $2,311 per player).
The victors of the ultimate event will also claim exclusive collectible items valued at $500 each.
For Super Smash Bros.
Ultimate competitors, twelve winners (three from each event across four regions) will earn the same extensive prize package and a chance to battle in the PAX Arena Final on March 30.
All final rounds will be played as team competitions, with winning teams also awarded unique collectibles.
