Nintendo Expands Kirby Air Riders amiibo Collection with Innovative New Figures
A major announcement during today's Kirby Air Riders Direct 2 has ignited excitement among amiibo collectors and Kirby fans alike.
Series Director Masahiro Sakurai introduced three new Kirby Air Riders amiibo figures, increasing the lineup of interactive collectibles for the upcoming Nintendo Switch title to a total of five.
The new additions—Chef Kawasaki with Hop Star, King Dedede with Tank Star, and Meta Knight with Shadow Star—are set to join the previously announced Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee figures.
In alignment with Nintendo’s tradition of crafting high-quality amiibo, each of these figures features artisanal detailing and a unique modular design.
Like Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee, the characters on these new amiibo detach from their vehicles and can be placed into any compatible vehicle figure, providing customizability for collectors and in-game functionality for players.
Notably, the King Dedede Tank Star figure introduces a first for the amiibo line: a transforming vehicle mode.
According to Sakurai’s demonstration, "The Tank Star amiibo can switch between land mode and flight mode, marking a new level of interactivity not seen in previous figures."
Nintendo of America provided key release details: the Meta Knight and Shadow Star amiibo are scheduled for release on March 5, 2026.
Chef Kawasaki with Hop Star, and King Dedede with Tank Star, will also arrive in 2026, with specific dates to be announced.
Unlike Kirby Air Riders and its initial amiibo wave, which will both launch on November 20th, these latest figures will arrive post-launch, extending the collectability window for fans.
For dedicated amiibo collectors, pricing remains consistent with earlier offerings.
Each Kirby Air Riders amiibo figure, including the newly revealed ones, will retail for $50 USD.
As a result, fans seeking to complete the full five-figure set should expect a total outlay of $250 plus applicable taxes.
The high-quality craftsmanship, paired with new interactive features, underscores Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to elevating collectible gaming experiences.
Kirby Air Riders for Nintendo Switch is shaping up to be one of the year’s standout releases, offering fans both innovative in-game features and an impressive suite of physical amiibo collectibles.
With pre-orders for the game, as well as the Kirby & Warp Star and Bandana Waddle Dee & Winged Star amiibo, now available via the Nintendo eShop and authorized retailers, fans are encouraged to secure these items early ahead of their November launch.
