Titled Kirby and the World Beyond, the game is confirmed for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027.
The announcement positions the title as a flagship Kirby experience timed to coincide with the series’ 35th anniversary, which traces back to Kirby’s 1992 debut on the Game Boy.
According to Nintendo’s presentation and the accompanying Nintendo of America press release, Kirby and the World Beyond transitions the pink protagonist into a 3D open-world adventure.
The trailer shown during the Nintendo Direct depicts Kirby freely exploring a large, open environment, engaging enemies, consuming food, and using his signature Copy abilities in new contexts.
The broadcast also included a sequence where Kirby breaks through the sky to reveal a landscape beyond Planet Popstar, signaling a broader scope for the series’ setting.
Paraphrasing Nintendo’s message from the Direct: the company stated that Kirby and the World Beyond will invite players to explore beyond Planet Popstar on Nintendo Switch 2 and to experiment with Kirby’s Copy abilities in an open-world format.
HAL Laboratory, the developer responsible for the Kirby series since its inception, returns as developer on this installment, with Nintendo serving as publisher.
