The company made an engaging offer stating, "If our post receives 350 likes, we’ll produce this Genesis-themed Classic 6." In a display of community support, the post quickly surpassed this goal, amassing over 1,000 likes and sparking substantial discussion among fans seeking a new visual style for their handhelds. Soliciting even more direct feedback, Retroid conducted a poll to finalize the design details.

The company invited followers to vote on the color of the start button, referencing the unique blue hue present in early Mega Drive controllers.

The results came in decisively, with the blue variant winning 62.5% of the vote, surpassing the grey option, which received 37.5%.

Responding to clear community interest, Retroid incorporated the blue start button into the production model, making it a key feature of the Pocket Classic 6 SG’s aesthetic. Observant fans commented that the Mega Drive/Genesis theming on this edition remains subtle—so understated it might be overlooked at first glance.

Yet, the release still marks an important expansion of choice for handheld aficionados who previously had access only to the standard grey model.
