The Eggcellent Dizzy Collection Kickstarter: Oliver Twins Bring Mega Drive/Genesis Dizzy Classics Back

The Oliver Twins have announced The Eggcellent Dizzy Collection, a new Mega Drive/Genesis cartridge compilation that celebrates the 40th anniversary of their flagship character, Dizzy.

Revealed at the Crash Live event in Coventry, the collection packages three classic Genesis-era titles—Dizzy the Adventurer, Go!

Dizzy Go! and PANIC!

Dizzy—and will launch via Kickstarter in the near future, with a registration of interest already open.

Dizzy first debuted in 1987 on home computers including the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and Commodore 64, and the character has since become one of British gaming’s most recognisable mascots.

The Oliver Twins, Philip and Andrew Oliver, have stewarded the franchise for decades, and this new cartridge release is intended to appeal to collectors and newcomers who want a physical Mega Drive/Genesis release.

In a press release, the developers said the collection marks Dizzy’s 40th birthday in 2027 and honours long-time fans who have supported the series for nearly four decades.

They described the package as an assortment that blends fairy-tale adventure, colourful maze action and puzzle challenges: players will attempt to rescue Daisy in Dizzy the Adventurer, tackle arcade-style stages in Go!

The Kickstarter campaign itself is not live yet; interested buyers can sign up to be notified when crowdfunding goes live.

This is not the Oliver Twins’ first use of crowdfunding for Dizzy projects: in 2017 they launched a Dizzy Returns Kickstarter that was cancelled after raising £25,620 toward a £350,000 goal.

Beyond the cartridge collection, the pair have previously teased new entries in the series.

They have revealed a forthcoming title called Ultra Dizzy, which appears to incorporate generative AI elements.

Recent Oliver Twins projects have also included Ghost Hunters and a Wizard of Oz–themed board game, demonstrating their continued interest in both digital and physical releases tied to legacy properties.

Retro compilations such as The Eggcellent Dizzy Collection often spark interest from console owners hoping for modern re-releases; similar retro packs have reached platforms like the Nintendo Switch eShop or been showcased during Nintendo Direct presentations.

For now, the confirmed details remain the three-game Mega Drive/Genesis cartridge and the upcoming Kickstarter launch—more specifics will be available once the campaign goes live.
