Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, marking a significant milestone in third-party engagement with the platform.
In a new interview, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, emphasized the company's strong belief in Nintendo’s latest system, confirming that the publisher will deliver four major titles upon release: Borderlands 4, Civilization 7, NBA 2K, and WWE 2K.
This announcement follows a growing trend of deeper collaboration between Take-Two Interactive and Nintendo, with Zelnick highlighting the company's confidence in the next-generation Nintendo hardware.
He stated in his discussion with The Game Business, "We feel confident about the potential of the Switch 2, though of course, time will tell how it performs.
We are pledging greater launch support than we've ever offered for a Nintendo platform and have already announced four titles for the Switch 2.
This marks a significant commitment, and we are optimistic about what lies ahead."
Zelnick also acknowledged Nintendo's historical strength in first-party development, noting, "Nintendo has traditionally excelled in supporting its platforms with first-party titles.
However, for Switch 2, they appear focused on expanding opportunities for third-party partners as well." He added that Take-Two is actively responding to this initiative, stating, "We’ve embraced this challenge and are eager to see the results.
Nintendo encouraged our support, and we believe we have risen to that call.
Now, we await how things will unfold."
The upcoming releases span multiple genres and showcase the depth of Take-Two's portfolio.
Borderlands 4 continues the acclaimed action role-playing series developed by Gearbox Software, while Civilization 7 advances Firaxis Games’ long-standing strategy franchise.
Annual sports staples NBA 2K and WWE 2K, developed by Visual Concepts, remain mainstays across gaming consoles and now promise to reach Nintendo’s expanding audience.
During previous discussions, Zelnick has praised the Nintendo Switch’s ability to appeal to a diverse player base.
The original Switch, which launched in March 2017, surpassed 125 million units sold as of early 2024 and has been recognized for its robust eShop library and a steady cadence of Nintendo Direct presentations unveiling both first-party and third-party titles.
Take-Two Interactive’s expanded support underscores a pivotal moment in Nintendo’s strategy for the Switch 2.
With heavy hitters like Borderlands 4, Civilization 7, NBA 2K, and WWE 2K launching on the platform, Nintendo is positioning itself to attract even broader third-party development and reach new player demographics.
This partnership highlights growing confidence among leading publishers in Nintendo’s hardware vision and signals the industry’s anticipation for the next chapter of the Switch legacy.
