Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Brings Mouse Controls and 4K Support to Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has announced a suite of enhancements for the upcoming release of Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch 2, including official support for mouse controls and 4K resolution.

This update, recently highlighted on Nintendo’s Japanese website, continues the company’s push to modernize classic titles for new hardware and audiences. Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, a collection celebrating the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., will launch for Nintendo Switch on October 2, 2025.

Both acclaimed platformers, originally released for the Wii, are being remastered to take advantage of the advanced capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2.

Notably, an upcoming free software update will enable mouse input, letting players interact with the game in a manner reminiscent of the original Wii Remote experience. While Nintendo has yet to release detailed instructions on how mouse controls will function, the company has confirmed that they will be available after launch as part of a no-cost update.

Players will have the option to use mouse controls—including with the new Joy-Con 2 controllers—enabling a more intuitive way to collect Star Bits and interact with in-game menus.

This addition aims to replicate the motion control versatility that made the original Super Mario Galaxy games standout experiences on the Wii. Alongside improved control options, the update will also introduce 4K support on Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring the beloved platformers look sharper and more vibrant than ever before.
