Super Mario Run Celebrates Super Mario Galaxy with Limited-Time Event on iOS and Android

Nintendo continues to make its mark in the mobile gaming landscape with the ongoing success of Super Mario Run.

Originally launched in December 2016 for iOS and later for Android, Super Mario Run quickly garnered millions of downloads, thanks to its intuitive tap-based controls and faithful representation of the beloved Mario franchise.

In a move to keep the player base engaged, Nintendo has rolled out a new special event inspired by its critically acclaimed titles, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. The latest event in Super Mario Run brings the cosmic charm of the Super Mario Galaxy series to the mobile platform.

Running until January 22, players on both iOS and Android can participate in exclusive challenges designed around characters and themes from Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

During the event, players have the opportunity to collect special in-game statues, including Bee Mario, Rosalina, and Balloon Yoshi, by completing designated missions.

These collectible rewards are inspired by characters that made their first appearances in the Galaxy series, offering dedicated fans new reasons to return to the game. In a statement outlining the event, Nintendo detailed that each day throughout the event period, one course in Super Mario Run will be available to play for free.

This feature allows all users—including those without full game access—to experience more of the gameplay and join in the celebration.

Daily free access to stages aims to promote sustained engagement and invites both new and returning players to explore Super Mario Run’s diverse content. Since its initial release, Super Mario Run has seen a variety of seasonal and collaborative in-game events.

With each update, Nintendo has demonstrated a commitment to maintaining enthusiasm among mobile players, as well as introducing fresh content aligned with major milestones in the broader Mario universe.

Super Mario Run remains a standout title in Nintendo’s mobile portfolio, available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 event underscores Nintendo’s approach to delivering fan-favorite content across multiple platforms—including the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo eShop—ensuring that gaming communities stay connected through shared experiences.

Fans should mark their calendars, as the event concludes on January 22, offering a limited window to unlock these exclusive in-game rewards.
