Nintendo has officially announced the pricing for the highly-anticipated Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection, set to launch on Nintendo Switch.
This definitive package compiles two of the most celebrated 3D platformers from the Wii era, marking their return on the Nintendo Switch hardware for a new generation of players.
Super Mario Galaxy was originally released in 2007, followed by Super Mario Galaxy 2 in 2010, both earning critical acclaim and shaping the landscape of 3D Mario games for years to come.
The Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 collection will be available at retail and through the Nintendo eShop for $70 USD, a price point notably higher than some prior Mario bundles.
When compared to 2020's Super Mario 3D All-Stars—which included Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and the original Super Mario Galaxy for $60—this latest collection includes two Wii classics for $10 more.
This new price reflects ongoing industry trends as game development costs and re-release efforts continue to rise, though some fans may find the higher cost unexpected.
In a statement summarizing Nintendo's position on the pricing, company representatives emphasized the value of the two remastered adventures, highlighting enhanced graphics, updated controls compatible with Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers, and the inclusion of new features designed specifically for this release.
Nintendo added that by bringing both Super Mario Galaxy titles together, fans can experience Mario’s grandest intergalactic journeys with improved visuals and performance on the Switch platform.
For fans who already own Super Mario 3D All-Stars and only wish to purchase Super Mario Galaxy 2, Nintendo confirmed both titles will also be available separately as digital downloads on the Nintendo eShop, priced at $40 each.
This provides flexibility for existing players who may only want to add one of these acclaimed adventures to their digital library.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is scheduled to release for Nintendo Switch on October 2, 2025.
In addition to the collection, Nintendo has announced new amiibo figures themed after classic characters from the Galaxy series, which will launch alongside the games and offer special in-game bonuses.
With the reveal of this collection, Nintendo continues its tradition of celebrating Mario's legacy on the Switch while reaching longtime fans and new players alike.
The company’s continued support for legacy content, alongside ongoing hardware innovations and special product launches like new amiibo, underscores its commitment to delivering the best experiences across the Nintendo ecosystem.
As the October release date approaches, Mario fans can look forward to reliving two of the most beloved platformers in video game history, now on Nintendo Switch.
