The creator, Eric Barone, announced the arrival via his Twitter (X) account earlier today, following the update's initial release on PC in March.
Switch players can download the update through the Nintendo eShop and consult the official Stardew Valley changelog for the full patch notes.
The Switch release is designated as Version 1.6.9 and bundles the headline features of 1.6 with additional minor improvements and quality-of-life tweaks.
Major additions include new festivals, a fresh farm layout, an expanded mastery system, enhanced island content, and a host of new items, dialogues, and home renovation options.
According to the patch notes, the Meadowlands Farm introduces distinctive terrain and starts players with a coop and two chickens, positioning the layout as a produce- and animal-focused option.
The developers describe the farm's grass as uniquely colored and appealing to animals.
The new mastery system unlocks late-game content via the Mastery Cave, which becomes available only once a player has maxed out all skills.
A traveling bookseller will now visit town twice each season, and Ginger Island — added in the previous 1.5 update — receives multiple small updates, including an official map.
The update also introduces multiple festivals: a three-day spring event in the desert that requires the bus to be repaired, two mini fishing festivals, and a summer environmental celebration.
New pet and farm personalization options arrive in 1.6.9.
Players can adopt multiple pets after fully bonding with their first companion, outfit dogs and cats with hats, and even acquire pet turtles.
Home decoration and renovation options have been expanded to give farms additional character.
Utility-focused additions include a Lost Items Shop that lets players repurchase permanently lost items, the ability to place legendary fish in ponds to produce roe, and a mechanic where items that fall into water will float briefly rather than disappear immediately.
The 1.6.9 update is distributed free of charge, consistent with previous Stardew Valley updates.
Barone has publicly thanked the community for their patience with the console rollout and stated that his next priority is finishing his follow-up project, Haunted Chocolatier.
Switch players can download 1.6.9 now from the eShop and read the comprehensive 1.6 and 1.6.9 patch notes on the official Stardew Valley changelog page.
