Gameloft has announced a major seasonal update for Disney Dreamlight Valley called “Season of Scares,” scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 23, 2026.

The update introduces the franchise’s first appearance of Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in the game’s seasonal content, alongside a new Star Path, limited-time Halloween events, and several quality-of-life improvements.

In the Season of Scares content, players will encounter a mysterious mirror that appears in Scrooge McDuck’s Store.

Gameloft says stepping through the mirror transports players to Oogie Boogie’s lair, where they can take on weekly challenges across a six-week window.

Completing the full questline will unlock exclusive rewards, including Jack Skellington’s ghostly dog Zero and the Oogie Boogie character.

Gameloft advises players that the first quest in the chain must be started before November 4 to secure the full questline this year; otherwise the opportunity will return in a subsequent season.

The update includes the “Haunting Elegance” Star Path, which adds Halloween-themed outfits, decorations, and dark, whimsical furniture.

New Premium Shop offerings will include additional magical outfits, furniture, and companions, specifically calling out Stitch’s Vampire Costume Dream Style, the Sinister Bridge Set, and a companion bundle featuring Lucifer from Disney’s Cinderella.

Two limited-time events are scheduled for October: the Haunted Floating Festival will run from October 7 to 31, and the Trick-or-Treat event returns from October 14 to 31 with new candy-collecting activities and exclusive seasonal rewards.

Gameloft also outlined several quality-of-life features arriving with the update, including a new Event Board designed to track up to three live events and a new emote wheel to make it easier to perform emotes around villagers and friends.

Gameloft has encouraged players to follow Disney Dreamlight Valley’s official social channels for additional details and previews leading up to the September 23 launch.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available for purchase on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and the Season of Scares update will be delivered through the game’s regular update channels and the in-game and eShop storefronts on release day.
