Hazelight Studios, renowned for innovative co-op titles like the BAFTA-winning It Takes Two, is set to launch their latest project, Split Fiction, in March 2025.
Split Fiction, described as a dynamic sci-fi and fantasy narrative-driven action-adventure, is currently confirmed for multiple platforms.
However, whether the game will make its way to Nintendo’s anticipated hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2, is still uncertain.
In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, Hazelight Studios founder Josef Fares addressed the possibility of a Split Fiction release on Nintendo Switch 2.
Although there is no official confirmation at this stage, Fares emphasized that the studio is aware of the strong interest from Nintendo fans.
“We’re not able to provide an update yet, but hopefully we’ll have more information to share in the future,” Fares noted, affirming the team’s ongoing engagement with platform developments.
Fares acknowledged the high level of secrecy surrounding Nintendo’s next-generation console.
Drawing on his familiarity with the system, he remarked, “There’s a lot of information that we can’t discuss just yet, but everyone will know more soon.
Nintendo has already announced they’ll be sharing further details with a special presentation in April.” This anticipated Nintendo Direct has become a focal point for industry watchers eager to learn more about the hardware capabilities and possible launch lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Split Fiction’s release in March strategically positions the title just ahead of the awaited Nintendo Direct in April 2025, fueling speculation about compatibility with the new hybrid platform.
The Nintendo Switch 2, expected to feature enhanced hardware—including two controllers designed for local cooperative play—could be an ideal fit for Hazelight’s signature gameplay style.
Hazelight Studios has earned critical acclaim for its commitment to co-op experiences, with previous successes such as It Takes Two setting a high bar for narrative and gameplay innovation.
The studio’s track record and ongoing dialogue with Nintendo suggest that steadfast Nintendo fans may have reason for optimism, even as they wait for an official announcement regarding Split Fiction on the Switch 2.
As Split Fiction's launch approaches and with the upcoming Nintendo Direct on the horizon, both industry professionals and gamers will be closely monitoring official channels for news.
For now, Nintendo Switch fans will have to wait patiently for an update, but the possibility of enjoying Hazelight’s latest adventure on Nintendo's next-generation hardware remains compelling.
