Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Patch 1.2.0 Brings Major Content Update and Improved Anti-Cheat Measures to Nintendo Switch

Sega has rolled out a comprehensive new update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, bringing Patch 1.2.0 to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

This update introduces a host of new content, balance changes, and substantial improvements to the game's anti-cheat systems.

As one of Sega’s latest entries in the racing genre, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has captured attention for its fast-paced action, distinctive characters, and robust online multiplayer features since its launch. Highlighting the update is the introduction of the "Legend Competition" event mode, which will run for a limited time beginning December 4, 2025, through December 21, 2025.

The Legend Competition offers players regular competitive challenges with special rewards, adding a fresh layer of excitement to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' online ecosystem.

Additionally, the maximum World Match rating has been raised from 9,999 to an impressive 99,999, giving dedicated players greater recognition and room for long-term progression. Patch 1.2.0 delivers several enhancements aimed at expanding the gameplay experience on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Players can now enjoy multi-round options in Friend Match mode, eliminating the hassle of returning to the lobby after each race.

Other notable additions include new collaboration tracks in the game's jukebox, 12 themed collaboration decals, and six newly introduced gadgets designed to diversify racing strategies and assist with mid-race comebacks for players ranked 4th to 8th. The update addresses key gameplay strategies that previously dominated online play, specifically those involving drift-type and item control gadgets.

Sega’s team, observing trends within the online competitive scene, has adjusted gadget balance and introduced new support and item-type gadgets.

This tuning aims to provide more opportunities for players in mid-field positions to reclaim the lead, improving overall competitive balance. From an online safety perspective, Sega has significantly strengthened anti-cheat measures in Patch 1.2.0.

These updated systems target unfair play in modes like World Match and Time Trial, enhancing integrity across all online matches.

In an official statement, Sega emphasized their commitment to fair-play and indicated their readiness to implement even stricter anti-cheat protocols if needed.

The company encouraged players to contribute to a safe, enjoyable community and promised continued responsiveness to feedback. Beyond new features and security upgrades, Patch 1.2.0 includes a comprehensive list of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.

These range from improvements to machine handling and race communication to fixes for specific course-related glitches and more intuitive item usage.

Cosmetic updates have also been made, such as updated AI skins and new color schemes for teams, reflecting fan-favorite character aesthetics. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Patch 1.2.0 is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and all other supported platforms.

Players can download the update via the eShop or their platform of choice to access the latest content and enjoy a more polished, secure racing experience.

This major update underscores Sega’s ongoing commitment to supporting Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and its vibrant, competitive player base.
