SEGA has officially revealed an exciting lineup of free downloadable content (DLC) characters for Sonic Racing Crossworlds, delivering even more fan-favorite variety to its fast-paced racing experience on Nintendo Switch and other major platforms.
Additional quirky vehicles and a curated selection of iconic SEGA soundtracks will also be included in upcoming updates rolling out through April and May 2026. Sonic Racing Crossworlds, developed and published by SEGA, continues to expand its diverse roster with crossover appeal.
The new DLC characters, available at no additional cost, tap into SEGA's legendary back catalog and beyond, reflecting the company's enduring commitment to fans of both classic and contemporary franchises. Scheduled for release in April 2026, Red from the renowned Angry Birds series joins the race as a playable character.
Red will hit the tracks with his distinctive Super Roaster vehicle, catering to fans of mobile gaming phenomena and adding fresh energy to the Sonic Racing universe.
Alongside Red, April also sees the debut of Goro Majima as Captain Majima, hailing from the Like A Dragon franchise (formerly Yakuza).
Majima’s presence, complete with his custom Goromaru vehicle, brings a striking crossover from SEGA’s beloved action game series set in Hawaii, enriching the game's multicultural and multi-genre lineup. In May 2026, Arle from the classic puzzle series Puyo Puyo will become playable, accompanied by the whimsical Twinkle Bayoen vehicle.
This addition pays homage to SEGA's rich heritage in the puzzle and arcade sectors, granting long-time fans a delightful nod. Beyond the character reveals, SEGA plans to augment the in-game jukebox with eight new tracks, further enhancing the nostalgic ambiance of Sonic Racing Crossworlds.
The new songs feature celebrated compositions such as “MAGICAL SOUND SHOWER” by Hiro from Out Run, “Let’s Go Away” by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi from Daytona USA, “Soul on Desert” by Jun Senoue from SEGA Rally 2, and “Like The Wind (B Course) Arcade Version” by Hiro from Power Drift.
Additional selections include “Outside a Crisis” by Katsuhiro ‘Funky K.H’ Hayashi from Super Hang-On, “Main Theme (Enduro Racer)” by Hiro from Enduro Racer, “God Only Knows” by A-One, and “Like the Wind (Reborn)” by Sampling Masters MEGA from Power Drift. A SEGA spokesperson explained that these DLC updates underline SEGA’s dedication to celebrating its legacy while keeping Sonic Racing Crossworlds fresh and engaging for returning and new players.
According to official statements, the updates will be available globally through the Nintendo Switch eShop and all other supported platforms. With over a million units sold since its original launch, Sonic Racing Crossworlds continues to be a standout in SEGA’s lineup of family-friendly racing titles.
