The Pokemon Company has officially announced “The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero,” the highly anticipated DLC Expansion Pass for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch.
Released during a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, the expansion promises to significantly enhance the base game's content by introducing over 230 Pokemon from past series entries that were previously unavailable in Scarlet and Violet.
This major update marks Nintendo’s ongoing commitment to supporting its flagship franchise on the Switch, ensuring the longevity and depth of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
As the DLC’s announcement generated excitement among Pokémon trainers and series veterans alike, fans quickly began speculating on which Pokémon would make their return to Paldea.
Following the announcement and the release of Version 1.2.0 for Scarlet and Violet, dataminers took a closer look at the game’s updated files.
Through detailed examination, they uncovered references suggesting that the internal Pokedex entries for 223 Pokémon were removed.
Drawing from past precedent—specifically, how similar data deletions in Pokemon Sword and Shield preceded returning Pokémon in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLCs—dataminers now confidently suggest which Pokémon are due for a comeback.
A comprehensive list, derived from this latest datamine, includes well-known favorites such as Bulbasaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Lapras, Snorlax, and many more.
Notable returning evolutionary lines feature all three original Kanto starters, Johto and Hoenn icons like Typhlosion, Swampert, and Sceptile, as well as prominent Sinnoh and Unova region Pokémon such as Torterra, Infernape, Empoleon, and Excadrill.
The list also extends to more recent favorites, including Decidueye, Incineroar, and unique forms introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, like Ursaluna and Basculegion.
While the uncovering of these entries offers fans a glimpse into the selection of returning Pokémon, it’s important to note The Pokémon Company’s official statement: the DLC will introduce "over 230 Pokémon" to the game.
This means the datamined list may not be the final roster, and additional reveals are expected closer to launch.
In line with its tradition of expanding mainline Pokémon games with substantial post-launch content, The Pokémon Company and Game Freak continue to showcase their capability and commitment with this DLC.
With the official release slated for later this year, anticipation remains high for both new and nostalgic additions to trainers’ teams in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
As always, we will update you with confirmed details as soon as the DLC becomes available.
In the meantime, players are encouraged to prepare for an expanded adventure and an even larger Pokédex when The Hidden Treasures of Area Zero arrives on Nintendo Switch.
