Resident Evil: Requiem has quickly become a standout entry in Capcom’s legendary horror franchise, setting new sales records and captivating players across the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam platforms.
The game, celebrated for its chilling atmosphere and gripping survival elements, owes part of its haunting success to the dedicated performances of its voice cast—most notably Delanie Nicole Gill, who portrays the relentless stalker enemy known as The Girl.
At a panel held during MegaCon Orlando 2026, Delanie Nicole Gill pulled back the curtain on the intense and sometimes unsettling methods she employed to deliver The Girl’s terrifying vocalizations.
Gill explained to attendees that the development team was looking for particularly disturbing effects.
"The team wanted the sound of a very thick spit, blended with a variety of gurgles and clicks," Gill detailed.
To achieve this harrowing sound profile, Gill undertook two demanding four-hour recording sessions, and in the process, consumed nearly two gallons of milk to thicken her saliva—resulting in the desired consistency for the role.
Gill recounted the recording environment, recalling, "I kept a towel on my lap during the sessions, because the positioning of my mouth to create the character's voice caused my bottom lip to drop and saliva to collect.
There were moments when it would drip onto my lap or even fly toward the equipment, creating some messy post-session cleanups." The audience at MegaCon responded with both gasps and laughter to Gill's candid behind-the-scenes stories—a testament to her commitment and the visceral impact her performance brings to Resident Evil: Requiem.
The game's development has generated several other compelling stories.
Angela Sant'Albano, voice actress for protagonist Grace Ashcroft, recently described how a particularly intense recording session alongside Gill drew a genuine scream of fear.
Such authentic reactions underscore the immersive quality of Capcom’s sound design and the dedication of its cast.
Launched across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, Resident Evil: Requiem has bolstered Capcom’s reputation for excellence.
With over 6 million copies sold, it has become the fastest-selling game in Resident Evil’s history.
The release also coincides with the franchise’s 30th anniversary, celebrated with a range of collaborations and commemorative gear.
Resident Evil: Requiem stands as a testament to Capcom’s ongoing efforts to evolve the series while honoring its storied roots.
The passionate voice work and innovative development choices confirm Resident Evil’s enduring legacy within the horror gaming landscape and its continued popularity on next-generation platforms like the Nintendo Switch 2.
