Ratatan delayed to October 15, 2026 — what Ratata Arts said

Ratata Arts has announced a delay for its upcoming action-adventure title Ratatan.

Originally slated to launch on July 16, 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2, the developer now says the game will release on October 15, 2026.

Ratatan is a crowdfunded project that began life on Kickstarter and later ran an Early Access period, and the team has attributed the delay to additional bug fixing, polish, and expanded platform and online support work.

Why the delay: producer and executive producer statements

In a public update, producer Sanjari Kazuto described a period of intense final-stage development work.

He said the team had been focused on last-minute fixes and stability improvements and acknowledged that reaching the desired quality level requires additional time.

Kazuto apologized for the silence and the inconvenience the delay causes, and confirmed the new unified release date of October 15, 2026 for all planned versions.

Executive producer Sakajiri Kazuto thanked backers for their support and reiterated that Ratatan was made possible by Kickstarter funding.

He explained that Early Access feedback led the team to make substantial changes and improvements, and that expanding online features and preparing the build for multiple platforms increased the workload.

Sakajiri stated the team chose to delay rather than ship an unfinished product, expressed regret for making backers wait, and affirmed confidence that the extra time will improve the final game.

Platform status: Nintendo Switch version canceled

This development follows a prior announcement that the original Nintendo Switch version of Ratatan has been canceled, leaving the Nintendo Switch 2 as the sole console platform for the title’s planned launch.

Ratata Arts has positioned the project around Switch 2 hardware and the updated release schedule reflects that focus.

What this means for players and backers

Backers who supported Ratatan on Kickstarter remain acknowledged by the studio as a core part of the project’s development.

The October 15, 2026 date applies across versions that Ratata Arts has confirmed; players should expect further updates from the studio regarding preorder windows, eShop listings, and any post-launch plans.

Ratata Arts did not release additional sales or platform-specific technical details in the update.

Ratatan’s delay is a reminder of the complexity of polishing crowdfunded titles after Early Access feedback and of the additional demands of online support and multi-platform development.

Ratata Arts has committed to using the extra months to prioritize quality ahead of the new October 15, 2026 release on Nintendo Switch 2.
