In its announcement the developer emphasized that players will be able to relive the original story with refreshed visuals and greater immersion, while exploring the series' signature puzzles and narrative beats.
The remake's pitch reiterates the core premise of the Curious Village: an English gentleman and noted archaeologist, Professor Layton, travels to the remote town of St. Mystere with his apprentice Luke after a request from the widow of a wealthy baron.
The baron’s will reportedly names the Golden Apple as the key to inheriting the Reinhold Estate, and Layton and Luke must comb the village for clues that point to the hidden heirloom.
Key feature upgrades confirmed in the announcement include full 3D character models and more immersive exploration, allowing players to experience village locales with added depth and detail.
Animations will be remastered in high resolution and widescreen, bringing cutscenes and memorable moments into modern display formats.
