AYANEO Pocket DS: Dual-Screen Android Handheld Pre-Orders Open Ahead of October Launch
AYANEO, a rapidly growing name in handheld gaming, has officially launched pre-orders for the AYANEO Pocket DS, its upcoming dual-screen Android handheld.
Available now on IndieGoGo, the AYANEO Pocket DS distinguishes itself as the world's first flip-style dual-screen Android gaming device, according to information released by AYANEO.
Designed with both retro gaming aficionados and modern players in mind, the system is set to ship in October 2025, bringing advanced performance and versatility to portable gaming enthusiasts.
A Leap in Dual-Screen Portable Gaming
The AYANEO Pocket DS is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 gaming platform, placing it firmly at the cutting edge of Android handheld hardware.
The device features a 7-inch OLED primary display capable of 1920 x 1080 full HD resolution and supports impressive refresh rates up to 165Hz.
Color accuracy and brightness are top priorities—owners can expect 800 nits maximum brightness, 90% DCI-P3 color coverage, and 150% sRGB gamut, delivering what AYANEO calls "HDR true color quality." The second screen, meanwhile, measures 5 inches, featuring a 1024 x 768 resolution, a 4:3 aspect ratio, 550 nits brightness, 256 PPI, and 120% color gamut coverage, making it ideal for classic emulation or multi-app workflows.
AYANEO highlighted several "smart dual-screen modes" during a recent livestream, demonstrating that users can operate two apps simultaneously across the displays and switch between them with a three-finger swipe gesture.
For those looking to extend battery life, a single-screen mode is also available.
The device is fitted with an ample 8,000mAh battery supporting fast power-delivery charging, a "PC-grade" cooling fan, TMR joysticks, and Hall-effect triggers.
High-quality front-facing stereo speakers round out the feature set, ensuring a premium audio-visual experience.
Configurations, Colorways, and Pricing
Pre-orders for the AYANEO Pocket DS begin at approximately $400 USD for the base configuration, which includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Higher-tier models range from $600 to $640, offering up to 16GB RAM and an impressive 1TB of internal storage.
Buyers can choose from three distinct colorways: Shadow Black, Starry Yellow, and the limited-edition Retro Gray.
Notably, the Starry Yellow and Retro Gray color options are exclusive to the top trim configurations, enhancing the device’s collector appeal.
Strategic Collaboration and Market Positioning
AYANEO has designed the Pocket DS in collaboration with Qualcomm, with the device set to make its first public appearance at the Qualcomm Snapdragon booth during ChinaJoy 2025, running from August 1 to 4 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
This announcement follows the launch of the Windows-based AYANEO Flip 1S DS earlier in July and aligns with broader industry trends toward multi-display portable gaming systems.
The company also revealed additional handhelds during its recent livestream, including the Game Boy-inspired Pocket Vert and the budget-conscious Pocket Fit under its new KONKR sub-brand.
In a statement during a livestream, AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang presented a prototype of the Pocket DS and confirmed that full-scale manufacturing had already commenced.
According to AYANEO, the device has been in development for roughly a year, targeting both "retro dual-screen enthusiasts and geek gamers" seeking a robust and innovative portable solution.
For those interested in becoming early adopters, the AYANEO Pocket DS is now available for pre-order via IndieGoGo, with devices expected to begin shipping in October 2025.
