Description

Infinity, a strategy RPG that first began development in 1999, is now available for pre-order, marking a remarkable milestone in the history of Game Boy Color releases.

This ambitious project, started by the independent Californian studio Affinix Software, was shelved in 2002 due to the shifting focus within Nintendo's handheld market from the Game Boy Color to the Game Boy Advance.

Now, more than two decades later, Infinity is finally seeing the light of day, fueled by persistent developer passion and community support.

In the words of acclaimed composer Yuzo Koshiro, who contributed a track to the game's soundtrack, he expressed his satisfaction with the project’s outcome, stating that he is delighted with how the collaboration has shaped up.

Infinity’s revival gained significant momentum in 2021 when a crowdfunding campaign drew the backing of 3,458 enthusiastic supporters, raising over $370,823 Canadian dollars (approximately $266,504 USD or £198,206 GBP).

These contributions enabled the original team to complete the game's development, polish its features, and prepare it for both legacy and modern gaming audiences. The renowned retro game publisher Incube8 Games has confirmed they are handling Infinity’s publishing duties.

Alongside a physical Game Boy Color release, an enhanced edition is in the works for modern platforms—ensuring a new generation of players can experience the classic tactical RPG adventure.

Infinity features an epic narrative: An ancient malevolence has risen, threatening two war-bound nations and twisting the world with a corrupting power.

Players follow a disgraced knight who must unite divided peoples, confront personal grief, and battle the forces fueling the conflict.

With a unique tactical battle system, five playable characters, a richly detailed world featuring more than 30 regions, over 100 collectible items, and charming 8-bit graphics, Infinity aims to deliver a nostalgic yet fresh experience.
