Nintendo Resolves Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Crashes on Switch 2; Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe Faces Audio Issues

Nintendo has officially addressed recent technical concerns affecting its popular titles on the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 platform.

In a move underscoring the company's commitment to game stability and player experience, Nintendo has confirmed that the crashing issues previously reported in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have been fully resolved on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Released in November 2021 and developed by ILCA in collaboration with Game Freak and The Pokemon Company, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl quickly became top sellers on the Nintendo Switch.

However, upon the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, some players experienced unexpected crashes, impacting gameplay for certain users.

According to a statement from Nintendo, all known issues affecting Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform have now been identified and addressed.

The games are currently operating smoothly, ensuring that players can continue their adventures in the Sinnoh region without technical interruptions. "We have resolved the issues that were causing Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to crash on the Nintendo Switch 2," a Nintendo spokesperson clarified.

"Players can now enjoy these titles on the new hardware with full functionality." Despite this progress, Nintendo has acknowledged that compatibility is still a work in progress for some legacy titles.

The company reports that Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, an enhanced version of the beloved platformer re-released for the Nintendo Switch in February 2023 by HAL Laboratory, has been identified as experiencing audio complications when played on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Specifically, some users might encounter irregular audio in certain in-game areas.

Nintendo stated, "We are aware of audio-related issues affecting Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch 2 in specific sections and are currently investigating a solution." Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe has been widely acclaimed for its updated graphics, new copy abilities, and robust multiplayer design since its debut.

As the Nintendo Switch 2 gradually expands its backward compatibility support, the company encourages players to stay tuned for further updates regarding fixes and enhancements to the game roster. Both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have reached significant sales milestones, contributing to the Nintendo Switch family’s continued dominance among global consoles, with the platform surpassing over 139 million units sold as of 2023.

The Switch 2 is positioned to build upon this legacy, delivering improved performance and expanded functionality for new and returning titles alike.
