Fender and The Pokémon Company have revealed a pair of officially licensed electric guitars to mark the Pokémon franchise’s 30th anniversary.
The collaboration, announced alongside a brief reveal trailer, introduces the Made in Japan Pokémon Red Version Stratocaster and the Made in Japan Pokémon Green Version Telecaster Electric Guitar.
Both models are positioned as premium collector instruments tied to the anniversary merchandise campaign.
Background and launch window
Fender is an iconic guitar manufacturer with a long history of licensed and signature instruments; The Pokémon Company manages the global merchandising and IP for the Pokémon franchise.
The new guitar pair is slated to launch next year, and a teaser trailer shared by the companies shows design details and hardware features.
The announcement did not include final retail pricing or a specific pre-order date.
Design and features
The trailer and official imagery show both guitars decorated with Pokémon-inspired pixel art motifs, a Poké Ball neck plate, and an 8-bit audio toggle switch to invoke retro sound aesthetics.
In journalistic terms: the instruments combine classic Fender body shapes with pixel-art visual elements and a dedicated toggle for an 8-bit audio effect, bringing gameplay-era nostalgia to an electric-guitar form factor.
Availability and where to buy
Fender and The Pokémon Company stated that pre-orders will be handled through the Pokémon Center online store; however, an exact pre-order launch date has not been provided.
The guitars are identified as "Made in Japan" models, indicating production in Fender's Japanese manufacturing line rather than U.S.-made or Mexican-made Fender lines.
Context for Nintendo audiences
The Pokémon franchise has long been associated with Nintendo platforms, from the original Game Boy releases to modern titles on Nintendo Switch.
These Fender instruments are part of a broader slate of 30th-anniversary merchandising and celebration activity from The Pokémon Company, aimed at collectors and fans across music and gaming communities.
