Nintendo has officially revealed an innovative new line of Mario-themed products, set to launch in Japan later this month.
These unique 'wood block' sets blend the tactile fun of classic children's toys with the digital interactivity of amiibo technology, broadening the Super Mario brand's appeal to both families and dedicated fans.
Announced through Nintendo's official channels, the upcoming wooden block range features iconic characters such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, alongside popular items from the Mushroom Kingdom including Stars, Fire Flowers, and signature music blocks.
Nintendo has shared detailed images highlighting the craftsmanship of these blocks; for example, the Mario figure measures a child-friendly 8 cm in height, making it accessible and comfortable for young hands.
A Nintendo spokesperson stated, "Characters such as Mario and Luigi, along with beloved items from the Super Mario series, will be available as wooden blocks.
Each piece is carefully designed with sizes and weights suited for ease of play by children.
Importantly, every character block can also function as an amiibo figure compatible with supported Nintendo Switch games."
The new Mario-themed sets will be available in two options: a three-piece starter set priced at 2,980 yen, and a comprehensive 30-piece set retailing for 19,980 yen.
Both products are scheduled to launch across Japan on August 26, 2025, with international expansion slated for early 2026.
This release comes as part of Nintendo's broader strategy to celebrate and expand the Super Mario franchise beyond traditional video games, reinforcing its position as a leader in family entertainment.
In addition to the wooden amiibo blocks, Nintendo will also debut 'Hello, Mario!'—a new Super Mario-themed app for smartphones and the Nintendo Switch, releasing in Japan this month.
The app is designed to offer interactive Mario experiences on digital platforms, further enhancing the ways players of all ages can engage with the Mushroom Kingdom universe.
As Nintendo continues to innovate in character merchandising and interactive technology, these latest announcements underline the company's commitment to accessible fun for all ages.
With the debut of Mario-themed wooden amiibo figures and the launch of 'Hello, Mario!', the Super Mario legacy enters an exciting new chapter both in Japan and, soon, around the world.
