Nintendo Music App Reaches First Anniversary: Updates on Mario Kart World Soundtrack and Recent Releases
Nintendo's official music app, launched for mobile devices in 2023, is celebrating its one-year anniversary.
Over the past year, the platform has expanded its rich library with classic and modern soundtracks.
The service, designed to cater to Nintendo Switch and broader Nintendo fans, continues to grow, but one frequently requested album—Mario Kart World's soundtrack—remains notably absent.
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America's Bill Trinen addressed the community's desire for Mario Kart World's music to join the Nintendo Music subscription service.
Trinen explained that releasing official soundtracks “takes significant time and effort,” noting that the Mario Kart World album is particularly extensive.
He further clarified, "Preparing soundtracks for Nintendo Music isn’t a simple process and involves careful planning and timing.
We’re aware that many fans are hoping to see the Mario Kart World soundtrack added to the service."
Although the Mario Kart World album is not yet available, Nintendo Music subscribers now have access to a growing selection of Mario Kart soundtracks covering earlier entries in the legendary racing series.
Throughout the past twelve months, Nintendo has enriched the service with nostalgic albums from classic titles, while also introducing sample tracks from anticipated Switch 2 releases such as Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders.
For fans who prefer physical media, Nintendo recently announced a partnership with renowned music label Laced Records to release The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild soundtrack on vinyl.
This move follows continued updates to the digital platform, including this week’s addition of the New Super Mario Bros.
soundtrack.
The Nintendo Music app aims to connect longtime fans and new audiences with the iconic sounds that define the Nintendo experience.
The service’s year-long growth underscores Nintendo's commitment to celebrating its musical legacy across both digital and physical formats.
As fans anticipate future updates, the company’s careful curation ensures that each new addition meets high standards, both artistically and logistically.
With the music app’s first anniversary marking a milestone, players can look forward to an expanding catalog that highlights the breadth of Nintendo’s storied audio history.
