Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Release Date Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 — What We Know

Nintendo confirmed the release date and new gameplay details for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave during its June Nintendo Direct, giving fans a first extended look at the next mainline entry in the long-running tactical RPG series.

Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, Fortune’s Weave was first revealed last September and will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 17, 2026.

During the presentation Nintendo debuted a gameplay trailer and outlined the game’s central structure: the Heroic Games.

Fortune’s Weave asks players to select one of four hero-focused paths, each centering on a different protagonist and narrative angle.

The four playable leads are:

- Cai: a determined young boy focused on rescuing his imprisoned father.

- Dietrich: a swordsman driven by the pursuit of ever-stronger opponents.

- Theodora: a queen committed to realizing a long-held dream for her homeland.

- Leda: a musician motivated by a quest for revenge.

These character summaries were presented by Nintendo as the central hooks for the Heroic Games, which combine narrative choice with the series’ trademark tactical combat.

Nintendo also detailed the city hub of Dagsion.

In journalistic terms, the company explained that Dagsion will function as a central base where players can train to learn new techniques, deepen bonds to recruit allies, and venture beyond city walls to obtain additional experience.

Those systems suggest an emphasis on both party management and optional progression activities leading up to the game’s battles.

Fortune’s Weave marks one of the first major Fire Emblem releases announced for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, with Nintendo positioning the title as a flagship strategy experience for the system.

The confirmed September 17, 2026 launch was included in Nintendo’s Direct and follows the initial reveal last September.

As a core series entry developed by Intelligent Systems, Fortune’s Weave will be watched closely by fans and industry observers for how it balances legacy Fire Emblem mechanics with new structure and content.

Nintendo has provided the launch date and a look at the game’s scope; further details, including pricing and eShop availability, are expected in the lead-up to the September release.
